Winter Words & Music Evening: Dec 3

Winter evening

On Monday 3 December, join Emmaus Village Carlton for a magical evening full of winter warmth...

Weaving together a range of beautiful music with engaging poetry - tickets are now on sale for our Winter Words & Music Evening  - book your tickets online today.

Relax with a glass of non-alcoholic mulled wine and delicious food in our beautiful Bistro setting, and enjoy an evening of sparkling performances.

Award-winning poet and the official Poet Laureate of Milton Keynes Mark Niel will share some of his popular poetry throughout the night. Niel began his career on the Open Mic circuit and his funny, energetic performance style quickly found an audience. He was the Poet in Residence for BBC Radio 2's "2Day" and was commissioned to write a poem celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

We are also excited to welcome formerly homeless poet Séamus Fox. His recently published book is inspired by the stories of Emmaus companions across the UK - his collection of poems explore the reality of what it means to be homeless. Séamus will share readings from his book and talk about his experiences. Signed copies will be on sale during the evening.

A musical treat for the ears, acoustic folk trio Noah’s Cape will delight with traditional and original songs featuring innovative arrangements and trademark three-part harmonies. Their songbook covers a wide range, from folk to classic pop covers, all delivered with verve, a poetic edge and wit.

The evening will also offer the chance to win prizes in the winter raffle and enjoy a sparkling show by the Voices of Emmaus - our choir of staff, volunteers, trustees and companions from our community.
