Volunteers from Infinis lend a hand at Emmaus Village Carlton

Infinis volunteers

The Infinis team met staff at Emmaus Village Carlton and the formerly homeless people that the charity supports, who are known as companions.

The group was given a tour of the community, shops and the bistro before rolling up their sleeves to help out with renovations around the community. This involved painting the kitchen facilities, tidying up the bistro, working in the outdoor garden and sorting through donated clothing in the warehouse.

Rob Brannan, Commercial Manager for Infinis said:

"It was really rewarding doing the tasks knowing that you’re making a small difference rather than just donating money to a charity. It’s been a fulfilling day”

The volunteers also listened to a talk from one of the companions living at Emmaus Village Carlton, who described how Emmaus has helped him to turn his life around from one of drug addiction and homelessness to one of hope and positivity for the future.

Nicola Foo, Accounts Officer for Infinis also volunteered as she was keen to find out about local charities that help people experiencing homelessness and social inclusion. Nicola added:

“It’s been fantastic to find out about the work of Emmaus. The day’s been great all working together as a team to give something back”.

Commenting on the day, Emmaus Village Carlton’s Community Leader, Helen Jago said:

“It’s wonderful that the team from Infinis took time out of their week to help us.  We are all touched and very grateful that they chose to help Emmaus for the day and hope to see them again soon”.

Emmaus Village Carlton supports 33 formerly homeless people by providing them with a stable home in a community setting and meaningful work within one of the charity’s social enterprises.
