Our Community home, Nant Lais was opened in January 2016 by the First Minister Carwyn Jones. It is the first and only Community in the whole of Wales! The Community has facilities for up to 22 Companions and is situated just outside of Bridgend Town centre in South Wales, just 6 miles away from the beautiful coast.
The Community home has been fully renovated inside and out and is now a fresh, welcoming home. It boasts large communal areas, an industrial kitchen and established gardens, complete with vegetable beds. All Companions have their own room with en-suite facilities. The Community also has a van, that is used to collect donated food from local businesses and also used for Companion leisure activities.

Our Community building was formerly a sheltered housing establishment, and has been extensively refurbished to provide excellent en-suite accommodation for the Companions. Being the first Welsh Emmaus Community in the Bridgend area, we have had the support of Bridgend County Borough Council and Valleys to Coast Housing Association.
Nant Lais during the renovation
We raised the funds to renovate the building and establish the Community, and have had great help from Welsh Government, The National Lottery Community Fund, The Henry Smith Charitable Trust and Emmaus supporters across the UK. Other welcome assistance has come from The Moondance Foundation, Oak Foundation, The Waterloo Foundation, The Bernard Sunley Trust, The Bridgend Civil Charities Fund and The People's Postcode Trust.
