Our volunteers fulfil vital roles for us throughout the charity and our enterprises and we are always ready to welcome new volunteers.

You will be working alongside companions and staff to support the work of Emmaus South Wales, giving you the opportunity to meet new people, develop new skills, gain experience, and contribute directly to the success of our charity.

Our volunteer base is diverse, and our volunteers come from all walks of life. All we ask is that our volunteers are able to make a regular and consistent commitment. How often and for how long you want to volunteer is up to you, but we ask for a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week for 3 months.

Find out more about what volunteering with us is like from Amanda, who volunteers at our Community Home:

Volunteer roles with us include:

  • Sales Assistants
  • Stock Assistants
  • Van Team
  • Land train drivers (need a category D licence)
  • PAT testers (we can offer training for this)
  • Community Assistant – Cooking, cleaning, gardening, general housekeeping and interaction
  • Upcycling Assistants

Volunteer your skills or resources

We know that lots of our supporters may not have the time to volunteer on a weekly basis for us, but could offer a specific skill or expertise on a one-off or ad hoc basis. If there is something you feel you could offer to the charity or to our companions please get in touch.

Useful services include:

  • Hairdressing for companions
  • Painting and decorating
  • Carpet fitting
  • Artists
  • Complimentary therapies for our companions
  • Legal advice
  • Free warehouse / workshop / storage offers

Please note that we are very grateful for the offers of volunteer counselling we receive, however we are unable to take these up unless the practitioner is BACP registered and has several years of post -qualification experience.
