BAPS Charities donate items to Emmaus Preston

BAPS Charities, Preston, based at the Hindu temple BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, has made a generous donation to Emmaus Preston as part of its on-going commitment to serve those in need in the local community.

Both children and adult volunteers collected a range of warm pieces of clothing, including jumpers, jackets and trousers, as well as a large collection of tinned food. These in turn have been donated to city charity Emmaus Preston.

“Being homeless is unimaginable in a first world country like ours, but unfortunately it’s a sad reality. We hope that the clothes and food can provide some comfort and assistance to those without a roof over their heads.”

Nitin Patel, lead volunteer at BAPS Charities in Preston

Emmaus Preston supports formerly homeless people by providing a home and meaningful work in a community setting. The charity operates three large social enterprises in the city, providing valuable work opportunities whilst generating an income to help sustain the support offered by Emmaus Preston.

“We are extremely grateful to all of the people who have donated items to the BAPS Charities collection in support of Emmaus Preston. The items will be put to good use and distributed to help vulnerable people in need.”

Stephen Buchanan, Director of Emmaus Preston
