Emmaus Potteries is coming soon!

Over the last 18 months a lot of work has been developing 'behind the scenes' to establish the first Emmaus community in the Potteries, providing a home and meaningful employment to formerly homeless people in the area.

With a steering group that first met in May 2016, we became a registered charity in February 2017 and are in the final stages of being able to launch Emmaus Potteries in autumn of 2017.

As part of this, we have entered a formal partnership with Aspire Housing to manage their existing charity Furniture Mine, which is a long-standing furniture recycling charity with a small shop in Newcastle-under-Lyme (Bridge St, ST5 2RY) and a vast store in Stoke-on-Trent (Cannon Place, Hanley, ST1 4QA).

Like a lot of the UK, there is a high need for services for people experiencing homelessness in the Potteries and we think Emmaus could help, providing a long-term, sustainable route out of homelessness.

We're currently raising money to get our community off the ground.  If you would like to get involved, please get in touch.

About Emmaus Bolton, our 'parent' community

It was the trustees and staff at Emmaus Bolton who chose to use their experiences to develop and mentor a 'daughter' Emmaus community in the Potteries. Currently several Emmaus Bolton trustees are also trustees of Emmaus Potteries to guide and support our development, for which we are extremely grateful.
