Emmaus North Staffs is developing into something rather special!
Our aim is to establish the first Emmaus community in North Staffordshire to provide a home and meaningful employment to formerly homeless people in the area.
We became a registered charity in February 2017 and we were delighted to acquire the long-established Emmaus Furniture Mine charity from Aspire Housing in September 2017. This amazing enterprise is the largest furniture and household charity shop in the area selling hundreds of items every week.
As we develop our Emmaus Furniture Mine social enterprise, building on its' 28-years of serving the local community, we are also developing our plans for an Emmaus 'community', a home for 25-30 formerly homeless people who would live and work together as they rebuild their lives.
Like a lot of the UK, there is a high need for services for people experiencing homelessness in the Potteries and we believe Emmaus could help, providing a long-term, sustainable route out of homelessness.
We're currently raising money to get our community off the ground. If you would like to get involved, please get in touch.
About Emmaus Bolton, our 'parent' community
It was the trustees and staff at Emmaus Bolton who chose to use their experiences to develop and mentor a 'daughter' Emmaus community in the Potteries. Currently several Emmaus Bolton trustees are also trustees of Emmaus North Staffs to guide and support our development, for which we are extremely grateful.Find our more
