Emmaus North East Workshop Update

workshop working

We've had a busy couple of months, setting up the workshop at our industrial unit at St Hilda’s, which is currently used as a furniture store and outlet.

The workshop unit will upcycle and “shabby-chic” furniture donations, and manufacture goods from pallets and reclaimed wood, while training Emmaus companions and volunteers in workshop skills.

A workshop supervisor was recruited in December, and the workshop will be fully operational in early 2018. We've already made renovations to the workshop space, and companions have started to learn new skills and manufacture goods for us to sell. We're also selling bags of kindling from our unit at St Hilda's, and our Low Fell shop - perfect for an open fire or wood burner!

We are seeking donations of woodworking and general tools, wood and pallets if any members of the public would like to help.

Volunteers who would like to help in the workshop are also welcome - please get in touch.
