Welcome to Emmaus North East

We're the first Emmaus community in the North East, providing a home and meaningful employment to formerly homeless and socially excluded people in the region.

Our residence is in South Shields, South Tyneside - an area that has been identified as needing services that will provide a long-term, sustainable route out of homelessness. Our community was officially opened by Emmaus UK President, Terry Waite CBE, in September 2017.

Community opening with Terry Waite CBE

As our community develops and grows, it's an exciting time to get involved with Emmaus North East. Check out the "Get involved" page to find out how you can help.

Our first social enterprise, a charity shop in Low Fell, sells second-hand items to generate money for our community, and we recently opened our second store in St James Mall, Hebburn. You can also find us at South Shields market every Friday. Our stock is constantly changing, so be sure to visit often!

We also undertake house clearances from £150 across the region - contact us for information shop@emmaus-northeast.org.uk

Donations outside our Low Fell shop

If you'd like to make a donation of goods to our shops, you can bring small items to either of our stores, or contact us for free collection of larger donations.

Make sure you follow us on Facebook and Twitter for all the latest updates and featured items in our stores.

If you're interested in joining our community as a companion, please contact us via phone, email, or through our contact form.
