Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney launches second-hand garden shop

Emmaus launches Garden sales area

In celebration of the Bungay Garden Street Market on Sunday 13 May 2018, Emmaus Norfolk and Waveney would like to invite market-goers to visit its second-hand charity shop in Bungay and Ditchingham to support a local charity and pick up a bargain at the same time.

In theme with the market, green fingered customers looking to update their garden and home without breaking the bank can now pick up quality second-hand items at our new outdoor sales section “Our Yard – Garden and Reclamation” based in Ditchingham.

The scrapyard of our community, which is situated in the former convent buildings of the Community of All Hallows, has been converted into a quirky sales space offering garden related products ranging from lawn mowers and outdoor furniture to pots and plants. Also available is a variety of reclamation products including fire places, shower trays and sinks.

In addition to the garden sales area, we have converted an unused space into an upcycling workshop. The restoration provides a bigger area for companions to give worn and damaged items a new lease of life and will allow us to save even more items from landfill.

Jonny, a formerly homeless man now being supported by Emmaus Norfolk & Waveney, is looking forward to working in the new upcycling workshop and said:

“I really enjoy using my imagination to create something that we can sell from unwanted furniture or scrap pieces of material. Not only does upcycling help us generate the funds to run our community, but it offers something unique to customers. I also get to use my passion for wood and upcycling to add value to something and that is extremely rewarding. It’s brilliant to have this new space to work in and the opportunity to share my skills with other companions.”
