Hidden Heroes - Staff category winner
Bruce has given more than 15 years of his life to Emmaus, initially as a companion and now as a staff member at Emmaus Merseyside. He has a real passion for Emmaus, demonstrating the values and his commitment to solidarity, both at a local level and internationally.
Bruce recently celebrated his two-year anniversary in the role of Support Worker at Emmaus Merseyside. During the past 24 months Bruce has helped to support many companions, often with complex needs, and for a large period as the only support staff member at the community. He has gone above and beyond on many occasions. Bruce encourages others to give their best and take part in training that will help them develop. Bruce has continued his dedication to solidarity by encouraging companions to get involved in activities outside of the Emmaus community such as litter-picks or donations to other homeless charities in the area and by engaging with local groups. This has helped to raise awareness of Emmaus Merseyside in the area and firmly embed the community within its locality.
Bruce has made a massive contribution to helping others throughout his life at Emmaus. I feel he is most deserving of this award and it would be great for him to get this recognition at the end of a challenging year.”
