Welcome to Emmaus - Reon

We have recently just been joined by Reon, who will be undertaking an apprenticeship over at Emmaus Lambeth, giving him an all-round view of how a social enterprise works. This will be done alongside studying Business Admin at Croydon College - which is an award winning provider of apprenticeship training. Reon will be spending one day a week studying at college, and the other four will be spent in a variety of roles here at Emmaus, to help give him an insight into what goes on behind-the-scenes.

His college course will cover four key parts:-

(i) Knowledge element – this is the learning required for the technical certificate, and covers the theory side.

(ii) Competence – this will be the practical side of his programme, and will be assessed directly at the Emmaus workplace.

(iii) Functional skills – these are English, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Maths.

(iv) Transferable skills – skills that will help him to develop Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS).

As an apprentice, Reon will work as a contracted employee with full training, working alongside experienced staff, putting himself on the first rung of the career ladder.

This will be Reon’s first time working with a charity as he heard about an opening for a role here at Emmaus through his college. Reon has recently studied sport at City of Westminster college, which is one of his favourite hobbies. He is an avid Arsenal fan and used to want to be a footballer. Another interest of his includes weightlifting.

Reon hopes upon completing his studies that he will move into estate agency work, and looks forward to gaining multiple skills from his time here at Emmaus.
