Thibaut Duffé shares his experience from Royal Parks 2017

Each year Emmaus UK offers free charity places to runners of the Royal Parks Half Marathon. This unique event follows a stunning central London route, taking in the capital’s world-famous landmarks on closed roads, and four of London’s Royal Parks – Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens.

Thibaut Duffé, who ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Emmaus UK in 2017, said “After working with a number of homelessness charities a few years ago the issue felt close to my heart and I wanted to raise money for a charity that dealt with housing issues.

“The Royal Parks route is very pleasant and is suitable for all levels; it isn’t professional or competitive and some people walk it.

“It’s important to have a training plan in place leading up to the event as it’s easier to follow and gives you fewer excuses to not reach your target. There are several free training plans available online – just try to find one that’s realistic for the time you have available to train.

“Running for a charity is also great motivation; knowing that you’re raising money for a good cause makes you stick to your plan and means you are less likely to give up!”
