Lighting revamp for Emmaus South Wales' Superstore

Emmaus SW Superstore banner lighting

Our largest shop, The Superstore on Tremains Road in Bridgend has had new energy efficient lighting fitted recently, thanks to an interest free loan from The Carbon Trust.

The Carbon Trust is an independent, expert partner of leading organisations around the world, helping them contribute to and benefit from a more sustainable future through carbon reduction, resource efficiency strategies and commercialising low carbon technologies.

With the support of Renew Wales, an organisation that tackles the causes and impacts of climate change, Emmaus South Wales have been able to measure its organisational footprint and find areas where carbon and energy costs can be reduced. By working alongside a Renew Wales mentor, Emmaus South Wales were able to identify key areas for improvement, finding energy efficient solutions.

The lighting in the Superstore was chosen as the initial area of focus, due to it being the largest shop at a vast 300m2. The lighting that was previously fitted in the Superstore gave off a very low light, but were also halogen bulbs, making them very expensive to run! Now, new low-energy LED bulbs and fittings have been fitted by Atega Ltd that not only give off a lovely bright light for our customers, but will hopefully also reduce lighting running costs by a massive 50%.
