IMG 8291

On Monday 10th December, Emmaus UK launched week-two of its Second Hand Santa challenge with some of the UKs top upcycling and craft bloggers to show people how to make the most of Christmas on a budget.

The group of bloggers were each challenged to put together festive party outfits using second-hand items found in Emmaus charity shops throughout the UK.

The Second Hand Santa challenge is taking place from Monday 4th December - Saturday 23rd December and bloggers will be sharing their creations on their social media channels each week to encourage people to visit their local Emmaus shop for a Christmas bargain.

Here's a round up of week two - party outfits:

Week two of the challenge will feature Christmas jumpers and party outfits, and in week three we will be sharing ides for Christmas gifts.

"I knew straight away that I wanted my party look to feel very bohemian, staying true to my personal style and looking beyond the usual black glittery number you usually see for the party season. My tip for charity shopping would be to not go in looking for something specific, you will never find it. Be open to rummaging through the rails as you never know what treasures you will find.”

All money raised in Emmaus charity shops goes directly back into running of each Emmaus community and supporting companions to rebuild their self-esteem and move on with their lives.

There are currently 29 Emmaus communities across the country, supporting more than 800 companions in the UK. In addition there are four Emmaus groups, all of which are working towards setting up an Emmaus community in their area. Emmaus aims to offer 1,000 companion places by 2020.
