Emmaus celebrates Starts at Home day
Today Emmaus is highlighting the importance of supported housing across the UK as part of the National Housing Federation’s Starts at Home day.
The campaign celebrates supported housing and tells the stories of people in communities across the country who have gained independence or rebuilt their confidence through these vital services provided by organisations like Emmaus.
Funding for supported housing is currently being reviewed by the Government. The National Housing Federation and Emmaus are campaigning to persuade the Government to ensure that every person who needs extra support has a home that meets their needs.
Former Emmaus companion, Rob said: “When I joined Emmaus I was at a very, very low point in my life. At Emmaus I was able to build myself back up. Not only does it give you your dignity and your self-respect back it offers you support to get back out into the big wide world.”
