Keeping Bristol Warm
Gavyn Emery was inundated with donations and delighted with the kindness and generosity of the people of Bristol when he set up ‘Keeping Bristol Warm’, to make the cold winter months a little more comforting for the homeless of Bristol. A community initiative the event demonstrated solidarity and community spirit in support of homeless people in Bristol.
Gavyn thanked Emmaus Bristol and for those involved in collecting and sorting the donations for the event.
Emmaus Bristol worked with Gavyn and attended the event in the “Bear Pit” a marketplace and pedestrian zone in St James Barton on 6 December 2015. The public donated ruck sacks, sleeping bags, toiletries and other essentials for the event and helped distribute them to the homeless and needy. Local cafes and coffee shops also got involved offering pending hot drinks where customers could purchase an extra beverage which a homeless person could then claim. These acts of kindness helped restore a little dignity and faith to those often marginalised in society.
