New Chapel Market shop opens and we're looking for volunteers

Till and counter

Turning the notion of a typical charity shop on its head, up-cycled furniture, vintage fixtures and good quality donated and new merchandise have been used to create a unique shopping experience for customers. Ahead of an official launch event in the coming months, the shop is calling for volunteers with an interest in retail to help open the store for business

Kim Trivett the shop manager said: “With an official launch event in the planning stages, we’re keen to hear from local people who would be interested in volunteering with us, especially those who are currently unemployed, students or those looking to gain experience of working in the retail or charity sector.

“There is so much to do and it’s a really exciting time for people to join us on what will be a very rewarding journey.”

As well as donated goods, the shop will sell returns, end of line and non-moving items from several high-street retailers. The profits from Chapel Market’s shop will be used to support formerly homeless people in the UK by providing a home and meaningful work in one of the 25 Emmaus communities across the country.

For more information or to express an interest in volunteering please call Kim Trivett on 020 7538 1132.
