Free language swap at Emmaus Leeds
Emmaus Leeds is hosting a free language exchange event at its café at on St Mary’s Street, close to Leeds city centre on Wednesday 16 March.
The afternoon event is open to anyone looking to build their skills and confidence in a language they are learning. People with English, French, Italian and Spanish as their first language will be on hand to share an informal chat and help you increase your skills.
“The Emmaus Language Swap event is a perfect chance to practice your language skills in a friendly and welcoming environment. The event is completely free and open to students, people born overseas as well as English speakers who want to learn a foreign language. We want people to come together at Emmaus Leeds, swap language skills, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and hopefully make new friends.”
Mariate Rodriguez, volunteer at Emmaus Leeds and one of the organisers of the event
The Emmaus Leeds café has recently had a full refurbishment and on the day it will offer food and drinks to all those taking part in the Language Swap event. The café is run by companions – formerly homeless people who now live and work at Emmaus Leeds.
“Our café area is much bigger and it’s great that we are now able to host events like this at Emmaus Leeds. I’m really looking forward to us hosting the Language Swap event and hopefully meeting lots of new people.”
David Heron, a companion at Emmaus Leeds
