Jasmin's Story - Volunteering with Emmaus Lambeth

20170711 082236

As well as taking on volunteers within our West Norwood community and shops in Wallington, Caterham and Carshalton, Emmaus Lambeth also provides volunteers to work at the kitchen for Lambeth Assessment Centre situated in Bond Way, Vauxhall.

The volunteers are there everyday providing hot meals for the homeless residents during their stay there, as they receive support and temporary accommodation.

One of these volunteers is Jasmin, and today she would like to share her story.

"Hello, my name is Jasmin, and I am a postgraduate student, living in South London.

I spent three months volunteering with the Emmaus organisation between March – June 2017. I worked as a Kitchen Assistant at the Lambeth Assessment Centre, alongside one of the Companions from Emmaus in West Norwood.

I had a great time volunteering with the organisation, and met some amazing people along the way.

I am so grateful to Dan Nisbett the Volunteer Manager, and to the organisation, for providing me with the opportunity to understand more about Emmaus, the work they do, and the community they work tirelessly to support.

I had such a positive experience during my time as a volunteer – and was made incredibly welcome by every person that I met.

Thank you Emmaus"

A big thank you to Jasmin for sharing her story with us!
