New Kitchen Celebration
Partners, local craftsmen and patrons attended a celebration lunch at Emmaus Lambeth on Tuesday that was in gratitude of the partnership of CRASH, 8Build, Dulux Trade and Howdens for the refurbishment of the community dining area.
The project took place in October last year and was completed in the short span of five weeks. Howdens designer David commented "I like working under pressure and it was very rewarding that Howdens could support a local charity." CRASH's Projects and Resources Manager Claire said "Everyone involved with this project from design to completion worked really well together to produce the best results for the Companions."
Companion David worked with Peter from 8Build on the design plans at 6.30 on the first morning to decide the process of taking down a wall, removing cupboards and shelving before fitting units of the right sizes. The old units and wall came down without any difficulty but restoring the floor and ceiling proved to be a little more awkward. Volunteers from Dulux Trade then came and painted the walls with subtle colours including a dark burgundy in two days. On completion Howdens David said "You now have new units of top quality and there is a 25 year guarantee."
The finished dining area is excellent and now staff and Companions can enjoy their drinks and meals in comfort.
