Shane has Brixton and football in his blood. He has taken on a part-time role of coaching 8 to 16 year olds in the heart of Brixton. He is a Companion at Emmaus Lambeth and works 5 days a week but on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings works with 20 local kids. Shane says "It is good to give something back to youngsters and see them do well".
Shane has the "FA Coaching for Level 1 Certificate" which took 3 Saturdays and 2 evenings to achieve. He now volunteers for the registered charity Football Beyond Borders(FBB)*. This was started by Jasper Kain in 2009 to provide football as a tool for a diverse set of issues and communities from refugees in Syria to Kurds in Turkey. Other international projects were in Ghana, Egypt, Palestine, Brazil, Bosnia and Serbia. From 2013 Jasper switched to focus on issues of the disadvantaged and inequality in the UK and brought football to Camberwell, south London.
Shane organises three teams and plays a round robin with a two touch technique of allowing the players to only touch the ball twice before passing it on to another player. Hey have they missed this in professional football?
