Many people across the Emmaus Federation know of Graham from Lambeth. Graham was a companion with us for a number of years and went on to become a Companion Assistant and very active member of the Lambeth team, promoting Emmaus wherever he went.
Graham found himself homeless for three months before being referred to Emmaus, where he stayed for three years before getting a job as a carer. When an opportunity to become a paid member of staff at Lambeth arose, Graham jumped at the chance - 'This is my dream come true' he said.
He is now starting a new role within the team as the Lambeth Pathways Work Co-ordinator. With an aim to engage clients from hostels in Lambeth into volunteer work and with a hope to inspire more people to progress on to being Companions.
'It's going to be a challenge, but I really feel that what we are doing here is helping those less fortunate, which is central to the Emmaus values. I can't wait to get started!'
On 30th January Graham will be promoting volunteering opportunities with Emmaus Lambeth at the Crisis Christmas 'WHAT NEXT' fair being held at Westminster College.
