Collections and Deliveries
Emmaus Hertfordshire collects donated furniture from across the county and Barnet. Collections are free and items are sold through our second-hand furniture stores. Our large Emmaus vans will collect your furniture on a morning/afternoon which you will have booked with your local Emmaus store.
Please contact your local Emmaus shop to arrange collection and be aware that we have certain criteria for items. Some shops have up to a two week wait for a collection slot.
We have two time slots for deliveries/collections: 9.30am till 12.30pm and 1.00pm till 4.00pm. Unfortunately we will not be able to give you a more specific time than these slots but if you give us a contact number you can request a call from the driver when they are on the way to you.
Please visit here for information on items we cannot take due to damage, consumer law, or space. To assist you should this situation arise, we have suggested other local charities and organisations that may be able to help you.
All collections are at the discretion of the van crew and not guaranteed.
There is a small fee for deliveries but the average waiting time for delivery is only a couple of days.
Again your delivery morning/afternoon will be booked with your local Emmaus store but please make sure your item fits before delivery.
In the event that an item doesn't fit, Emmaus offers a credit note service.
House Clearance Service
Emmaus Hertfordshire offers an affordable house clearance service with a difference as all proceeds will be used to support people who have experienced homelessness.
We offer a full and partial house clearance service, covering the county of Hertfordshire and within a 20-mile radius of Barnet.
Emmaus aims to reuse much of what it collects, saving items from landfill whilst raising money to sustain our community home in St Albans which supports 39 people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion.

All electrical items that are donated to our shops are put through electrical and function testing systems to ensure their safety. Once approved they are then sold with a 28-day guarantee. This service is once again delivered by our companions whom we proved with accredited training.
We have a small workshop which can sometimes fix things, or sand the donated items back to their original wood. However our workshop does not mean that we can fix everything and accept all furniture no matter what it's condition. This workshop is mainly a training area for companions on basic woodwork and restoration.
Unfortunately we cannot fix, repair, sand or re-paint furniture that hasn't been donated to the charity.
