London Marathon runner visits Emmaus Greenwich
On Wednesday 6 February, we welcomed Stuart Browning from the Atos Finance and Commercial team to our community after he secured a place to run on behalf of Emmaus Greenwich in this year's London Marathon.
The Atos Finance and Commercial team has chosen to support Emmaus after being inspired by the innovative approach the Emmaus federation takes in tackling homelessness across the UK.
Emmaus Greenwich received two places to the London Marathon 2019 from the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, and was delighted to offer Stuart one of the places to kick-start the partnership.
Stuart visited Emmaus Greenwich to see first-hand how the money he raises will have a direct impact on the people living in the community. Stuart received a tour of the Plumstead shop and community, which is home to 34 men and women who have experienced homelessness. The tour included information about how an Emmaus community and social enterprise works, before getting behind the scenes in the PAT testing room and upcycling workshop. After the tour, Stuart chatted to current residents and staff members before receiving his Emmaus running vest and goodies.
Stuart will be taking on the 26.2 mile race in London on Sunday 28 April 2019. To sponsor him, please visit here.
