Specialist furniture shop Restore opens in Nailsworth

Helen Wolfson, James and Beth

Restore specialises in pieces of lovingly restored furniture. Just across the road from the existing shop, it makes a departure from the treasure trove of well-loved bric-a-brac currently sold to Nailsworth customers.

Amongst the attendees at the opening of the new Emmaus shop Restore on 26 September were the Mayor of Nailsworth, Town Crier, Helen Wolfson, Trustee and James Smith who is an Emmaus companion who manages the shop. Local people of Nailsworth turned out to support as well as volunteers old and new.

Beth Boxall, a retired schoolteacher was asked to officially open the new Nailsworth store. She has volunteered with Emmaus for over twenty years as well as originally fundraising to start the community we know today which houses 33 formerly homeless people.

She said:’ Emmaus means so much to me. It’s about getting to know and working alongside the companions; helping to meet their needs and with their help managing the day to day problems of a busy shop – sorting; pricing.  As well as welcoming a constant footfall of appreciative customers, many of whom are familiar supporters and give us encouragement as they search for our daily bargains and banter with the staff’.
