Celebrating National Gardening Week
This National Gardening Week, Emmaus Dover are celebrating our green-fingered companions and volunteers who have helped develop the grounds and improved the space around our accommodation.
Celebrating its eighth year, National Gardening Week takes place from 29 April to 5 May and is organised by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). This year, there will be a focus on ‘Edible Britain’, with gardeners from up and down the country sharing their love of home-grown produce. Visitors to RHS sites can also attend classes and events throughout the week offering inspiration, tips and advice.
Anthony, a companion who is a keen gardener at Emmaus Dover, said:
I enjoy my job at the community. I look after the garden onsite throughout the week, growing flowers and vegetables that are sold to raise money for the community or used for meals for the other companions. When I first arrived at Emmaus, there was some areas that needed some attention, so I enjoyed getting it back up to scratch."
