Donated toiletries make a difference
We'd like to thank the lovely people at In Kind Direct for their continued support, helping to ensure products that would otherwise be wasted, are donated to Emmaus Dover.
Founded in 1997 by HRH The Prince of Wales, In Kind Direct distributes consumer goods donated by companies to UK charities. They work with not-for-profit organisations and companies to help ensure that everyone has access to life's essentials and that no usable product goes to waste.
Thanks to In Kind Direct, we receive regular donations from companies that have a lot of products they no longer need, from over-stocked toiletries to branded cleaning products from an expired campaign.
The first thing that people want to do when they arrive is get clean. Accessing high quality toiletries through In Kind Direct is incredible. We get through an awful lot of shower gel and shampoo. Dental hygiene is also incredibly important so accessing toothpaste and brushes from Colgate and In Kind Direct has been amazing. Often our companions haven’t had access to these products in a long time. We get through nearly 50 toilet rolls a week, so their donation of toilet rolls makes so much of a difference. The money that we save is ploughed back into running the charity and helping the community.
It's great to have the normal things that normal people have. They don’t have to have the basics. It makes them feel normal, getting branded products.
