Thanks to Coventry Building Society

Cov Building Society cheque Mar 2018

A team of staff at Coventry Building Society have raised over £4,000 in twelve months to help our homelessness charity.

The Risk Team at the Coventry-based business selected Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire as their Community Partner – a local cause that the team can work with to raise funds and awareness for the work they do.

Over the past year, the Coventry Building Society team’s fundraising efforts have included active challenges such as TrekFest – a gruelling 25km hike over the hills of the Peak District, and the 10km sponsored Wolf Run - a muddy obstacle course across the Leicestershire countryside. The team has also distributed collection boxes around their office building to encourage donations of items for sale in the Emmaus shop on Red Lane in Coventry. The Coventry Building Society colleagues recently visited us to present a cheque for the most recent amount raised, and have now pledged to continue their efforts during 2018.

Speaking about their plans, Ella Severs, Credit Risk Analyst at Coventry Building Society said:

We chose to support Emmaus because homelessness is such an important issue and this charity does great things in helping people get back on their feet. This year, we kicked things off by donating £730 which will go towards new bedding for the formerly homeless people living at Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire. We also held a Valentine’s Cake Sale and have bigger events in the pipeline for later in the year, including a quiz and participating in the 100km Cotswold Way Challenge."

We are delighted with the amount that the team has raised. They are clearly passionate about helping us and we really do appreciate all their efforts so far; it means a lot that they have decided to continue this partnership. Their ongoing support will help us continue to work with those who need it most. The problem of homelessness is more pressing than ever and communities need to work together to support those most in need.

If there are any other local companies who feel they could pledge some support, big or small, we would very much appreciate it. Together, we can continue to change lives for the better.
