I found myself homeless following a relationship breakdown; I was no longer able to stay with my family as it was getting harder and harder for us all to get along.
After leaving my family home, I sofa surfed for a year. It wasn’t easy and it really affected my mental health, but it was the only choice I had and the only thing that kept me from sleeping on the streets.
After joining Emmaus, I was able to rebuild my confidence and started to look forward to the future and what it might hold. I have learnt a lot of new skills and made friends.
I have also had the chance to use my furniture finisher skills that I gained while working on Mersey Island and share these with the other companions. At the same time, with the support that I've received, I have learnt a lot about myself and have grown as a person.
My experience with Emmaus has been truly amazing and I would not be where I am without the help and support I have been given during my time here.
