Uprising of kindness

Cambridge Container to Poland 040313 005

February 1 will see Emmaus Cambridge will mark the 60th anniversary of the ‘Uprising of Kindness’, Abbe Pierre's landmark radio appeal which inspired the people of France to support the many people who found themselves homeless at that time.

To mark the event, Emmaus Cambridge will load and send a container of goods to Emmaus Nowy Sacz in Poland.  Each tonne of donated goods helps the Polish community to earn in the region of £1000, which is very important both to the community itself and the wider community it serves.  Our car park will be a hive of activity for a few hours as the container is loaded but we would like to thank all of the people who show their kindness still by donating goods which can be shared with those most in need.  The container marks the first of our solidarity programme for 2014 and more events will take place during the year.
