Staff
John Watts - Assistant Community Leader
I have been at Emmaus St Albans since October 2004 initially sharing the responsibilities of day-to-day running of the Community. Since 2006 I have increasingly concentrated on the referrals, induction, support planning side including exit strategies for Companions who are ready to leave and outreach support for them, when they have left.
Juliett Barton - Assistant Community Leader (New Staff)
As a newcomer to Emmaus, I will be working with John Watts in a supportive role with the Companions & this is an exciting & challenging venture, with which I am enthusiastic to be a part of & I am looking forward to becoming part of the Emmaus team in St.Albans.
Chris Burford - Workshop Manager (New Staff)
Having joined Emmaus St.Albans, as a member of Staff in January 2009, I am responsible for the day to day running of the workshop, the maintenance of the building, grounds and general Health & Safety matters. Fortunately Emmaus is blessed with a very capable group of Companions who make this varied job a real pleasure.
Sandra Rickards - Administration Assistant
I joined Emmaus St Albans in July 2004 as Secretary to the Management team. I enjoy working as a team member & my various responsibilities include supporting the team & the whole Community with my skill set as Secretary i.e. book keeping, minute taking, general office duties, website updates. I believe in the Emmaus Ethos & feel good that I am working for a Charity that is making a difference in helping people to regain control of their lives.
Geoff Deans - Wood Recycling Project Manager (New Staff)
I started working with Emmaus St.Albans in May 2008, as a volunteer to develop a business plan for a wood recycling business based on the award winning Brighton & Hove wood recycling project. Late in 2008 I joined the Emmaus Staff full time to launch & grow the business. It's been a lot of hard work but very rewarding & the business continues to grow thanks to the hard work & enthusiasm of the Companions and Volunteers.
Michael Magill - Van Driver
I joined Emmaus St.Albans in February 2005 as a Companion, as I was made homeless when my Mum died. I ended up sleeping in my car for about 6 months, when someone from Shelter told me about Emmaus where you work for your bed & board. It was great; I could now clean myself up & get myself my dignity back! So I did & 4 years on I've got my own rented flat plus I now work for Emmaus St. Albans as the Van Driver. Emmaus is a great cause which is helping people to rebuild their lives & helping the whole Community. Many thank's to Emmaus St.Albans for giving me & others a way out of a bad situation.
