Welcome to Emmaus South Wales
Emmaus South Wales is a registered charity and is affiliated to the Emmaus UK Federation.
We are an enthusiastic group of Emmaus supporters who for several years have been looking at ways to help homeless people in Wales by opening an Emmaus Community in South Wales. There are currently 22 Emmaus Communities open across the UK , but this will be the first in Wales!
The Emmaus South Wales Community will be designed to accommodate about 24 formerly homeless and workless people, called Companions, who will come off benefits and take up full timework in the Community's business, refurbishing and selling on donated goods. Companions can stay for as long as they need and get support to gain extra qualifications for when they are ready to find their own accommodation and look for work.
Finding suitable premises for the Community home, and sites for the social enterprise businesses , and raising the money to make this happen takes time, but we are confident that these things will be achieved with local and national support. We have the full backing of Bridgend County Borough Council and Valleys to Coast Housing Association, and are currently looking for sites suitable for the Community and the business in the Borough of Bridgend.
We are happy to come and speak to local community groups about Emmaus and our plans for Emmaus South Wales.
