Emmaus Marathon runners - under two months to go!
In just under two month's time, on 17th April 2011, six people will be running the London Marathon for Emmaus, aiming to raise £2,000 each in sponsorship. Can you help them on their way?
First up is Lawrence Buckley, Community Leader at Emmaus Sheffield, no stranger to sporting challenges but needs your support on the sponsorship front. He says: "My training is going well, but I'm dogged by niggling injuries, coughs, colds and shin splints".
Then there’s Brian Day, Chair of Emmaus Norwich, who’s running for Emmaus Norwich but needs to get his sponsorship up and running. He says: "We really need £50,000 to open the doors, but £2,000 would be a big help".
Or perhaps you’d like to sponsor Thalia Griffiths, Trustee of Emmaus Hastings and Rother and responsible for their press and publicity. She says: "I'm terribly unfit, so please force me to get out and train".
There’s also musician and psychotherapist James Taylor, who is running for Emmaus Greenwich. He says: "Emmaus is an independent and autonomous movement with very little in the way of government aid. Fundraising is therefore critical to sustain the ongoing success of this venture".
From outside Emmaus UK comes Keaton Lee, and Daniel Jeffries. Keaton, who works for Towergate Insurance, says: "Let's all help a charity that helps people to help themselves. It really is different to any other charity out there. Daniel, who works for buyingTeam, says: "This is a great charity that works hard for those who find themselves homeless".
Both Towergate and buyingTeam are very supportive of Emmaus.
