Preston Companion steps up to new role at Emmaus Coventry
Emmaus Preston said goodbye to Pete Johnson on Friday 14th January, but not goodbye to Emmaus. He's the first Emmaus Preston Companion to take up a staff position within an Emmaus Community, as the new Community Support Officer at Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire.
Pete said, "To say I'm pleased is a complete understatement...it's what I've been working towards since I stopped drinking three years ago. The support, encouragement and training opportunities that Emmaus have provided are second to none. It's my first job since 1996 when I gave up work after my wife died."
Pete started his new job last week. He's really excited to be able to help Companions, particularly newer ones make the most of their time with Emmaus: "I feel I really know the lie of the land and the obvious pitfalls to avoid."
