This is Emmaus Preston
We are a community of people who were once homeless.
Emmaus Preston is one of 20 similar Emmaus Communities in the UK, and a member of the Emmaus UK Federation. Our mission is to maintain and develop a safe and stable Community, that provides hope, opportunity and personal growth for people in need, to enable each individual to play their part in today's world with confidence in their own ability to fulfil their potential.
Like all people who live in Emmaus Communities, we are 'Companions'. This name dates from the time the Emmaus Movement was first founded back in 1949 in France by a remarkable man - Abbé Pierre.
Our home is The Birches at 165 Ribbleton Lane, Preston PR1 5ST

We share household duties like cooking and cleaning, and eat our meals together. There are plenty of opportunities to socialise, but everyone has their own en suite room too.
We work full time in our Community business.
We collect furniture and other household items that people no longer need, spruce them up and sell them in our shop at 49 - 50 Friargate. Our shop is open Monday to Saturday 9.30am - 5.00pm.

Many individuals, groups and organisations have given or pledged to give funding, practical support, gifts in kind, their time and talents and free advice to Emmaus Preston. We offer our sincere thanks to all who have helped in whatever capacity.
