Welcome to Emmaus Oxford

Emmaus tackles the problems of homelessness through a network of self-supporting Communities, where people are offered a home, a job and a sense of belonging. Emmaus Oxford is creating a new Community for 24 residents - 'Companions' - in East Oxford. Building is well under way on our site at 171 Oxford Road and we anticipate opening the doors to our first Companions in early 2009. The contractors were at work by the end of February, so this is a really exciting year for us, as we watch the community building rise!

Donating furniture

At 1st June we took over an existing furniture store, which is currently being rebranded as the Emmaus Oxford 'Secondhand Superstore'! The vans will shortly be 're-liveried', so the Emmaus name will be seen on the streets of Oxford and the roads of the county.

If you have reasonable quality second hand furniture you would like to give, or if you need furniture yourself, please contact the store on 01865 763 698 (opening times Monday to Friday 9.30-12.30 or you can leave a message outside these times) or email furniture@emmausoxford.org (please include a weekday mornings contact phone number in your message too if you are offering goods, as they will need to telephone to arrange a collection time). Explain what you have to offer, and they will advise whether they are able to take it, and how long before they can collect. Many electrical appliances, but NOT gas, in working order can be accepted. Please note that upholstered items such as sofas and mattresses MUST have a fire safety label.
