Formerly homeless people raise money for ill and disabled children

A group of Companions and staff at Emmaus Coventry have raised over £100 for the Snowball Appeal by taking part in a 24-mile bike ride. The Snowball Appeal provides equipment for terminally ill and disabled children in the Coventry and Warwickshire area.

Starting at their Emmaus shop on Red Lane, Coventry, the group rode along the Coventry Canal, through Brinklow and Binley woods, finishing up at the Community home, the Old Vicarage. Community Leader Kieron Dunne said it was a "lovely day, even though some of the ride was quite hard going: we had to contend with a variety of terrain that included both gravel and grass." Although they battled a number of punctures, the whole team made it back to the Community Home.

Companion Pete Shaw, organiser of the event, said: “The Snowball Appeal is one of our chosen charities for this year and we want to do everything we possibly can to help.”

Certain items in the Community's shop are being sold in aid of the Appeal. If you would like to make a donation, contact the shop directly on 024 7666 1466.
