Emmaus UK's 21st Community opens

The UK's 21st Emmaus Commmunity is now open. Emmaus Hastings, located in St Leonards on Sea presently has 9 bedroooms but will eventually become home to 23 Companions, as residents are called.

Two experienced Companions from Emmaus South Lambeth and Emmaus Gloucestershire, Andy Bryant and Jason Bell have helped to set the new Community up and within the last few weeks the Community has started taking local referrals.

Community Leader Zach Hurst says; "Opening the doors to new Companions has gone more smoothly than I expected and is proving to be very rewarding. Everyone including Trustees, Volunteers and core Companions have all joined forces to meet the challenge. The turn-over in our shop has doubled in the last few weeks and the Companions are working really hard collecting, restoring and selling the items that are donated to us in our shop."
