Gardeners grow support for Emmaus in the UK

Terry Waite, President of Emmaus UK, accepted a donation of £1500 to help develop more Emmaus Communities in the UK on his recent visit to the Emmaus Federation Office in Cambridge. The cheque was presented by Tim and Moira Ewbank who, along with 14 other residents of Histon and Impington, opened their gardens to raise money for charity in June. Despite extremely unseasonable weather, local people and visitors from further afield turned out in their hundreds to view the gardens, exchange horticultural tips, buy plants and sit down to tea and scones. Staff from the Emmaus Federation Office were among many volunteers who helped out on the day.

Arvinda Gohil, Chief Executive of Emmaus UK said: "It was a real pleasure to meet Tim & Moira Ewbank when they came into the Office to present the cheque to Terry Waite. We are extremely grateful for the support of Histon and Impington Open Gardens and very much appreciate the Committee’s dedication to making the event such a success."
