Record-breaking UK stalls at the Paris Salon Sale
Over a weekend in June, Companions and Staff from 13 UK Communities filled their vans with bric-a-brac and travelled to Paris for the 2010 11th Paris Salon Sale on Sunday 20th June.
The Paris Salon Sale is an annual event organised by Emmaus France. Held at the Parque des Expositions, it is a giant jumble sale involving Emmaus Communities from all over Europe and beyond. Its purpose is to raise funds for Solidarity programmes run by Emmaus International. This year, all proceeds will go to Emmaus International's efforts in Asia. Visitors were treated to displays of Indian dancing throughout the day.
Over 30,000 visitors came in through the doors, and whilst final numbers are still being finalised, the UK contigent alone raised over 11,000 euros - a record.
