Forging Links
Emmaus President Terry Waite recently helped to forge links between Emmaus Leeds and Quarry House which is home to the DWP and the NHS.
With Terry at the centre, staff from Quarry House and volunteers, Companions and staff from Emmaus Leeds linked hands across the footbridge joining the two organisations.
Amid much tooting of horns from the traffic going under the bridge, the human chain then passed along donations in the form of bric-a-brac to Emmaus Leeds to be sold in their on-site shop.
As well as introducing themsleves to their neighbours, the aim of the day was to encourage local people to donate qood quality items and to show that there is a lot people can do to help charities that does not neccessarily involve giving money.
The day was such a success that it has been decided to make it an annual event.
