First Birthday Celebrations

Emmaus Oxford and the Emmaus shops in Rugby and Hampshire are all celebrating their first birthdays.

At the end of March the shop in Rugby is throwing a birthday party to thank the town for their support. A year ago the Emmaus Shop in North Street was opened by Emmaus President Terry Waite. Since then, the shop has seen its donations and customer base grow week on week.

Janet Grant, who is a Trustee of Emmaus in Rugby, says;
“We are delighted with the success of the shop and very grateful to all our customers and donors. We would also like to extend our thanks to our team of able volunteers who work tirelessly in the shop to raise funds for Emmaus.”

Emmaus Oxford marked the occasion of its 1st anniversary with a Community outing. Andy Bache the Deputy Community Leader says;

"The Community is doing well. We are taking companions for a meal and bowling on Saturday and, as part of our celebrations, have also organised a 5-a-side football match against the local police."

Mike Matthews, Trustee from Emmaus Hampshire, says:

“We are planning an Open Day on Friday 30 April to celebrate the first anniversary of the opening of our Bar End shop. Not only will the public be able to see behind the scenes but also to hear about our progress during the year from both our Chairman, Alison Thompson, and Sean Hewitt one of our first Companions and now a member of our Management Team. We plan to show a 10 minute film following the fortunes of Companion Bill which was recently shown on BBC South Today’s Inside Out programme.”

Here's looking forward to their second birthdays!
