1 000 videos saved from landfill

The Art Group at Emmaus Mossley recently had an exhibition in the Oldham Gallery of 1000 video works of art.

The driving force behind the exhibition was to encourage people to stem the tide of videos to landfill and to transform those endless copies of 'Titanic' and 'Four Weddings and a Funeral' into something more meaningful.

Left behind by ever-developing technology, videos are now simply gathering dust in charity shops but the Art Group led by Resident Artist Tonie Rigby, have explored ways in which they can use videos in thought provoking, challenging ways.

Tonie says of her role at Emmaus Mossley;
"I feel humbled and priviledged to be at Emmaus, where I feel continually supported by companions, staff, volunteers and the members of the Art Group"

The Art Group's next challenge will be an exhibition of transformed furniture which will take place in the summer.
