Emmaus South Lambeth sale for Haiti earthquake survivors
Emmaus South Lambeth have raised £800 to help survivors of the Haiti earthquake in just one day.
Companions at Emmaus South Lambeth came up with the idea of a special one day sale at their shops, the morning after the news of the disaster first broke.
As Andy Bryant, a Companion at Emmaus South Lambeth, explained, "We wanted to see if we could do something to help in their time of need. Everybody at the Community was involved; Companions, staff and volunteers."
The £800 was raised from the Community's bric a brac shop, where items were sold for 50p, and from profits from their electrical shop and the new Emamus South Lambeth superstore.
The £800 has been sent to the organisation "Mary's Meals", who have been involved with projects in Haiti since 2006, providing meals for children in the poorest areas.
