Stamp issued to mark Abbe Pierre anniversary
A postage stamp showing the image of Emmaus' founder Abbé Pierre is being launched in France today to commemorate the third anniversary since the death of the iconic poverty campaigner.
The stamp will be available today from the headquarters of Fondation Abbé Pierre in Paris and from Post Offices in Lyon, the city where Henri Groues (later known by his Resistance pseudonym Abbé Pierre) was born in 1912, and Esteville, the Normandy town where he is buried. It will then become available at Post Offices around France. The stamp is worth 0.56 Euros and is based on a portrait by Claude Andréotto.
