A Master Class in Italian Cuisine
The celebrated chef Antonio Carluccio who has been helping Companions to discover the delights of Italian cuisine by teaching them to cook such dishes as aubergine parmigiana, was in Bristol recently to launch his latest book.
Companions Chris and Ben from Emmaus Bristol joined Antonio at the local Carluccio's retaurant to help him to demonstrate how to cook spinach balls to a room full of Carluccio fans.
Antonio spoke movingly about the reason he supports Emmaus:
"It's not a charity that waits to be handed money" he said "It's not even a charity in the accepted meaning of the word. Everyone who lives in Emmaus Communities works hard to raise money to keep the Community going".
Before getting down to the business of chopping spinach he added:
" And if you want some good furniture, go to the shops. I bought a lovely table from an Emmaus Community."
The spinach balls were voted excellent by all present.
