Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire welcome Terry Waite

Terry Waite, Emmaus President, has helped celebrate the successful re-opening of the Emmaus Coventry and Warwickshire Community and Shop.

Forced to close for a while by break-ins, the Community in Binley and shop in Red Lane, Foleshill are now thriving. Terry visited both and chatted with Companions (Community residents), staff, volunteers and trustees.

Pictured below, with Trustee Maureen Porter and Deputy Community Leader Karen Walters, Terry spoke about how Emmaus supports formerly homeless people back into mainstream life, "Emmaus gives people a chance to get back on their feet, to be trusted and regain dignity, and be recognised as individuals with a positive future."

Before heading off to speak to supporters 'Friends of Emmaus', Terry admired some of the items, like the beautiful model ocean liner shown above, donated for sale in the shop, and cut a celebration cake.

Amongst other things, Emmaus Coventry & Warwickshire supported refused asylum seekers with shelter, showers, hot drinks, clothes and shoes, gave furntiure to several families, worked with MIND to help people with mental health issues and helped several other local charities.
