Bringing Emmaus to the USA
Thanks to a generous donation from the Apax Foundation, two experienced Community staff from Emmaus Cambridge are travelling around the USA for three months, setting up meetings to talk to people about Emmaus and investigate opportunities to bring the Emmaus model to North America.
Whilst the Emmaus Movement has spread from its first beginnings in France to 36 countries around the world, the only Emmaus Communities in the USA are Emmaus H.O.M.E. in Maine and another fledgling Community in North Carolina.
The Pathfinder project, as the venture is known, has been designed to spread the word about Emmaus and to investigate ways in which the Emmaus model could sit alongside existing provision for homeless people in the USA.
