Emmaus Paris Salon in anniversary year.
2009 is a significant year for Emmaus. It is the 60th anniversary of the founding by Abbe Pierre of the Emmaus Movement and the 40th anniversary of the creation of Emmaus International.
And 14th June 2009 sees the 10th Emmaus Salon in Paris, where Emmaus Communities from across Europe set up stall to sell everything from teapots to tricycles.

Emmaus Communities in the UK have been setting aside stock to sell at the Salon for months. On Friday 12th June, Emmaus vans from Communities around the UK will set off on the long drive to Paris.
In 2008, over 25 000 people flocked to Porte de Versailles to find bargains at the stalls run by 100 Emmaus Communities. All proceeds from the sale were used to support Emmaus International's human rights programmes via the Mutual Health Fund, which contributes to healthcare for 8 Emmaus Groups in Benin and Burkina Faso, and the Mutual Education Fund which helps finance Emmaus projects in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Peru.
The goals for 2009 are to attract even more people to the event, use the opportuntiy to promote the work of Emmaus and raise increased funds for the projects supported by Emmaus International.
